From Interdisciplinary Research to Knowledge Transfer

The University of Mannheim is one of the leading research institutions in Germany. In economic, business and social sciences the University has been ranking among the top 20 research institutions in Europe for many years. Mannheim's scholars mainly focus on research in fields that are relevant for society. These include but are not limited to the Political Economy of Reforms, Financial Markets, Governance, Regulation, Competition and Innovation or Migration and Multilingualism.

Next to their research, University of Mannheim scholars engage in consulting activities with national and international institutions and bodies in politics, industry and society. They are represented on the German Council of Economic Experts, and on the German Ethics Council, two academic bodies advising German policy makers. Moreover, as members of a number of academic advisory boards, they bring their expertise to federal ministries and institutes, and advise the Deutsche Bundesbank or the European Central Bank.
