In the latest CHE master's program ranking, University of Mannheim is amongst the leading group in almost all categories in the field of psychology and reaches second place after the private university IPU in Berlin. Thus, Mannheim is the best public university for a master's degree in Psychology.

Graduates in business administration from the University of Mannheim are very popular with Human resources managers. 40.2 percent of the 540 surveyed managers state that Mannheim graduates meet their companies' needs best. Thus, the University of Mannheim was ranked number one for the 13th time since 2002. In the category Business Informatics, graduates from the University of Mannheim were rated third place. Furthermore, the department of economics was ranked number 4, the department of informatics number 6 and the department of law number 12.

The current Times Higher Education World University Ranking shows: The University of Mannheim performs extremely well in international comparison. Mannheim scores by far best among the small universities in Germany and is ranked overall among the ten best universities in Germany. In total, the University of Mannheim moved up to number 102 in the worldwide ranking. In four of the five ranking categories the University of Mannheim reached top ratings. In the areas research as well as citations and industry income it could improve its position compared to last year and was ranked between the best ten percent worldwide. In the category international outlook the University of Mannheim was rated excellently as well and reaches a position among the best 40 percent.

In the THE Subject Ranking, the University of Mannheim was ranked number 23 as the best German-speaking university. Within continental Europe, Mannheim was ranked third after Tilburg and Rotterdam. The University of Mannheim was ranked number 7 in the area of Social Science and thus among the top universities in continental Europe. The disciplines which were evaluated in the THE subject ranking are the following: teaching, research, impact of research, knowledge transfer and internationalization.

The business magazine F.A.Z. evaluates every year, which economists in Germany, Austria and Switzerland have the greatest impact on research, politics and media. Five researchers from the University of Mannheim were among the 100 most influential economists. Prof. Achim Wambach, who was ranked number 39 in 2015, was now ranked 10th in the overall ranking, and achieved a 6th place in politics.

The Mannheim MBA has significantly enhanced its standing in the Financial Times (FT) Global MBA Ranking. Mannheim Business School’s full-time MBA program rose from 55th to 49th position. Besides, the Mannheim MBA continues to be the best program throughout the entire German-speaking region. Thus, Mannheim Business School has improved its position in this internationally recognized and influential ranking for the third time in succession since its first quotation in 2013. In its assessment, the FT rated the Mannheim MBA particularly well in the category ‘Value for Money’, in which the program was ranked #9 worldwide. Currently, 53 participants from more than 20 countries, with at least three years of professional experience, are enrolled in the Mannheim Full-Time MBA. Within one year, they develop and strengthen the required hard and soft skills that will qualify and prepare them for a career in international top management.

The University of Mannheim is among the world's top universities in the area of social sciences. In the current THE Subject Ranking, the social sciences have been ranked #5 in Germany and #64 worldwide. In the category “research”, the University of Mannheim has even proven to be the most influential institution in Germany.  The disciplines which are part of the area of social sciences and were evaluated in the ranking are the following: business administration, media and communication studies, political science, psychology, law, sociology and economics.

Mannheim Business School has maintained its strong position in the global MBA ranking of The Economist. As in 2014, it is ranked #38 in this list of the 100 best MBA programs worldwide. In Germany, Mannheim Business School is the number one out of three institutions that were taken into consideration. To a large extent, the ranking of The Economist is based on a survey among current and former participants. The main criteria were the career progress of the alumni – especially as measured by salary increase and current salary – as well as the satisfaction among participants and alumni regarding different aspects of the program. Mannheim Business School performed particularly well in the categories Faculty Quality (3rd place worldwide) and Education Experience (7th place).

According to the Times Higher Education World University Ranking, the University of Mannheim can compete with international top-level universities in terms of its research excellence. It has been ranked #106 worldwide and is among the top ten in Germany. The ranking is designed to assess universities in five areas:  teaching, international outlook, research, citations and industry income. The University of Mannheim has achieved excellent results in four out of these five categories.

The “Mannheim Master in Management” program of the Business School reaches top ranks in the subjects Marketing (2nd place), Finance (3rd place) and Economics (6th place) in the latest international ranking of the Financial Times. The consecutive master’s program that finishes with a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree also scores in the category “value for money” and reaches 7th place worldwide. In the overall ranking from 80 of the best master’s programs, Mannheim has improved by a total of four ranks in comparison to last year, reaching the 14th place.

From 2011 until 2013, no other German university has been awarded as many public grants in the area of social and behavioral sciences as the University of Mannheim. With a grant totaling EUR 23.6 million, the University of Mannheim has been ranked number one in its core areas according to an online database by the German Research Foundation (DFG) named “Förderatlas”. The field of economics and business alone has been able to raise a considerable sum of EUR 8.1 million and has thereby reached a first place, followed by the University of Bonn and the HU Berlin. In the research area of social sciences (which is composed of the three disciplines of sociology, political science and communication science), Mannheim has been ranked second, exceeded only by the University of Bremen.

Human resources managers are highly satisfied with graduates in business administration who acquired their degree at the University of Mannheim. 13.4 percent of the 540 surveyed managers said that Mannheim graduates meet their companies' needs. Thus, the University of Mannheim was ranked number three after the LMU Munich and the University of Cologne. Furthermore, a 10th place went to graduates in economics and a 9th place went to business informatics graduates.

The library ranking „BIX“ has awarded the University Library of the University of Mannheim with the seal of star quality in three out of four categories (supply, development and utilization). In the fourth category (efficiency), the University Library ranks in the upper middle range. All in all, the library has once again managed to secure its place among the leading libraries in Germany.

The University of Mannheim has been ranked number six in terms of absolute numbers of funded stays abroad by the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, DAAD). 624 Mannheim students have received Erasmus grants, which is a much greater number than far larger universities (e.g. Cologne, Heidelberg or Berlin) could achieve. In the DAAD’s annual report, the University of Mannheim has explicitly been praised for its achievement: “The performance of the University of Mannheim is worth mentioning, which – as the only smaller university – has managed to maintain its sixth rank among the top ten and has thereby demonstrated its international orientation”. In terms of relative numbers, the University of Mannheim also still belongs to the top ten as it has been ranked number eight. This ranking takes the size of involved universities into account by relating the number of outgoing students of a university to its total number of enrolled students.

The Financial Times has placed Mannheim Business School (MBS) as the best German supplier up to the #5 spot on their ranking list for customized programs. Customized programs are exclusively tailored and implemented by business schools to meet the specific needs of a company. The extraordinary success in this ranking is in particular due to the excellent assessments by the corporate clients: in six out of ten categories, MBS was listed among the three best institutions. In the categories faculty, teaching methods and materials, and follow-up, MBS even achieved a peak position in the 85 institutions from all over the world included in the ranking.

The renowned CHE Ranking (Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung (CHE) / Die Zeit), Germany’s largest university ranking, has awarded Mannheim’s Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Program top scores in all evaluated categories. In comparison with other German universities, the program came off best within the whole federal territory.

The Mannheim MBA was ranked the best MBA program in the German-speaking world by the Financial Times for the third time in a row and is again listed among the top 20 European business schools. Moreover, Mannheim Business School even 11 spots from last year's 66th place to claim 55th place in the 2015 rankings.

Established in 1937, the American Marketing Association (AMA) is the world’s leading marketing association with 30,000 members from academia and the marketing business sector. AMA publishes two leading marketing journals, the Journal of Marketing and the Journal of Marketing Research. The AMA’s special interest group for doctoral students, DocSIG, tracks publications in these premier marketing journals, according to authorship and university affiliation, and publishes a top 50 list on a regular basis. This year, the AMA analyzed all publications of the two leading marketing journals, to acknowledge top contributors in the period from 2010-2014. In the category "author productivity", Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Christian Homburg from the University of Mannheim ranks first, together with Michael Ahearne from the University of Houston and Ravi Dhar from Yale University.

Christian Homburg and Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Martin Weber were ranked #1 and #2 at national level for their overall research achievements in the field of business.

Every year, the renowned business magazine Wirtschaftswoche asks 500 HR executives which universities, in their opinion, had the best graduates. For the 13th time in a row, the business school of the University of Mannheim achieved the highest rankings in the category business administration, rated #1 by 45.6 % of HR managers. In the category business informatics, graduates from the University of Mannheim were rated second place. The department of economics was ranked #4.

In the Best Practice Competition of the German Library Association, the library of the University of Mannheim was ranked #2.


ERASMUS Top 10 Ranking, 2014

In 2012/2013, the University of Mannheim made the top 10 of the internationally most active universities for the first time. With 600 exchange students enrolled at European universities, the university was ranked #6 both in terms of absolute and relative numbers. In 2012/2013, the University of Mannheim counted more outgoing ERASMUS students than big universities like those in Berlin, Cologne and Heidelberg.

In 14 out of 15 categories, the University of Mannheim achieved top rankings in the current CHE master’s program ranking. The most important category “overall study situation” as well as the subcategories “range of course offerings” and “international orientation” received the rating “excellent”.

The programs business administration, economics and law achieved top rankings in several categories, among others in the most important category “overall study situation”. Excellent ratings were particularly given to the international orientation of the programs business administration, economics and business informatics.

In 2014, the University of Mannheim was rated #18 in the Master in Management Ranking of the Financial Times. The Master in Management (MMM) was ranked #1 in the subcategory marketing and #5 in economics. Moreover, in the categories “Value for Money” and “Aims Achieved” the MMM was ranked #7 and #6 respectively. The U.S. business magazine annually publishes six different rankings of Master and Executive Master programs.

The Mannheim MBA is ranked the best MBA program in the German-speaking world by the Financial Times (FT). After entering the FT Global MBA Ranking for the first time in 2013, Mannheim Business School was one of only a few European schools to improve their position: The Mannheim MBA was ranked #66 worldwide and now belongs to the top 20 MBA programs in Europe. The Mannheim Business School is the only MBA provider in the German-speaking world to be included in the three most important rankings of MBA programs, namely those by the Financial Times, the Economist and Bloomberg Businessweek.

The Economist has published its first ranking of Executive MBA programs with an excellent result for the Mannheim Business School: The ESSEC & MANNHEIM EMBA is not only ranked #16 globally, but also #6 among all European programs. The Economist ranking measures business schools on two broad criteria: personal development/educational experience and career development. Within these categories, it looks at more than 25 criteria, including the quality and diversity of students, the quality of the faculty, the percentage of students who receive a promotion after they graduate and the average salary increase graduates can expect. The data are a mixture of student- and alumni-reported figures and ratings and data provided by the schools.

In all evaluated subjects – English/American Studies, History, German Studies, Psychology, and Romance Studies – it holds top positions in the most important category “overall study situation”.

Since 2002, the German business magazine Wirtschaftswoche asks HR managers across Germany which graduates they prefer. Once again, the Business School of the University of Mannheim is ranked on top - for the 12th time in a row. 46% of all HR managers prefer hiring Mannheim's business graduates, leaving the University of Cologne and LMU Munich (both received 34,5% of the votes) behind.
The Economics graduates are also on top of their ranking: 30% of all HR experts prefer hiring them. In Business Informatics the Mannheim University takes the 3rd place behind the TU Darmstadt and the TU Munich. In Computer Science, the University of Mannheimis ranked #10.

The website MBA50.com, which covers business schools worldwide, regularly merges the most important ranking lists (i.a. Businessweek, Financial Times, Economist, and Forbes). The Mannheim Business School (MBS) was ranked #11 and is thus the best rated German Business School.

In a survey published by the New York Times, the University of Mannheim was ranked #52 globally and #3 in Germany. In 20 countries, almost 5,000 HR managers of leading companies were asked to assess graduates worldwide.

The BIX, the German benchmarking of libraries, awarded the University of Mannheim a star in four categories: supply, applictaion, efficiency, and development. As a result, the University of Mannheim is ranked in the top group of German university libraries.

In an annual survey of 500 HR executives conducted by the renowned business magazine WirtschaftsWoche (Handelsblatt Publishing Group), the University of Mannheim's Business School has taken the number one position for the eleventh time in a row. 52.3% of the HR decision makers who participated in the survey consider the University of Mannheim to be the best German University for Business Administration/Management. Mannheim was also voted the best university for economics by 30.8% of the questioned HR executives. Basis for the ranking is a survey annually conducted by WirtschaftsWoche: 500 HR directors from across all industries, most of them coming from international companies with more than 1,000 employees, are asked to assess German business graduates, and thus, their universities, with regard to their employability.
