Finance Program

General Structure

The PhD program in finance consists of 3 semesters of course work and extends over 3 to 4 years overall. During the first 3 semesters the student must take the compulsory courses in Microeconomics I, II and III, Econometrics I, II and III, Finance I and Finance II, and must chose 4 field courses.

From the second semester on, students are required to participate in the weekly CDSEM doctoral seminar and the weekly finance seminar.

The second and third year are mainly devoted to the writing of the thesis.

Students decide about their thesis supervisor and topic until the 3rd semester.

  1. Completion of the course program
  2. Completion, submission and acceptance of the thesis
  3. Thesis defense
  4. Degree: Dr. rer. pol.
