Measures for International Degree-Seeking Students
“Step by Step” offers Information Sessions in cooperation with the Employment Agency Mannheim. They are held in English and cover the following topics:
- Basics of German residence and working permits for international graduates
- Basics of German job application formalities
- Advice on where to find internship and job listings
The sessions are offered at the beginning of each semester and are designed especially for international degree-seeking students from all faculties at the University of Mannheim. Dates and application formalities are available in our current “student guide”.
In our two-day application trainings participants learn about the structure and content of a CV and cover letter. The focus will lie particularly on German formalities, as they may differ strongly from the formalities in the home countries of our international students. In addition, all application documents will be analyzed in interactive group discussions which help participants to better assess and present their strengths in an interview.
We offer three training sessions per semester. Dates and application formalities are available in our current “student guide”.
Individual Application Coaching
International degree-seeking students can contact us with all inquiries they might have regarding upcoming applications (internship, working student, full time). During individual appointments we advise you on how to improve your application documents. Furthermore we can assist you in preparing for a job interview.
In addition, we offer regular office hours in cooperation with the Employment Agency Mannheim.
For appointments please contact Ms. Lea Bastian (email@example.com).
Brief questions can be answered without appointment during our regular office hours (Wednesdays 2-5pm) in L1,1 Room 109.
German Language Courses with Integrated Company Visits
“Step by Step” also offers German language courses at the levels A1.2, A2.1, A2.2, B1.1 and B1.2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The courses are focused on German business language and incorporate the use of corresponding course books. Furthermore, participants have the opportunity to take part in company visits within the Mannheim region.
Interested participants should already have basic (A1 level) German language skills. The enrollment in these courses is based on the results of an online placement test. Information regarding course registration is available in our “student guide”.
The lecture and networking series Alumni@work 2.0 was started in order to provide our international degree-seeking students with the chance to correspond with international alumni of the University of Mannheim who have successfully established themselves in the German labor market. Students will not only learn from the experiences of the speakers, but will also have the possibility to ask questions. The alumni have completed different degree programs and work in various branches of business.
