Free-Mover to Mannheim

Due to high demand, the number of places available to free-movers, i.e. students who want to study at the University of Mannheim for one or two semesters (no degree-seeking students!) without taking part in an exchange program is very limited. You must be registered as a student abroad and have studied two academic years in the major you wish to pursue at the University of Mannheim. In addition, you should have a good idea of the courses you plan to take and be able to certify your level of English language proficiency (at least B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Which certified documents must be sent along with the application?

  • Application form (word file)
  • Secondary School Leaving Certificate
  • Official transcript of records from your home university covering a period of two successful consecutive years of study
  • Certifcate of enrollment at your home university

PLEASE NOTE: All documents issued not in English or German language have to be translated into English or German and submitted with the certified copy of the original.

When are the application deadlines?

The application deadline is 30 April for the fall semester and 31 October for the spring semester. The respective Faculty and the International Office evaluate all free-mover applications together.
