Application
In this section, you will find information concerning the application for a spot in a University of Mannheim international exchange program. The application deadlines and details may vary between the faculties and courses of study; for this reason, the applications are sometimes handled separately from one another.
If you are completing an application for another organization such as DAAD or the Fulbright Commission, please contact these organizations directly for application deadlines and procedures. You can find an overview of the most important scholarship organizations here.
The Selection Process for University of Mannheim Exchange Programs
A committee of faculty representatives and of professors responsible for the respective exchange program carries out the selection process for all exchange programs (including Erasmus). In the selection processes for programmes that are open for all departments/faculties a member of the International Office will also take part in the selection commitee.
An interview is sometimes requested for certain programs; if this is the case for you, you will be specifically invited to an interview.
The selection criteria are generally:
- Academic record, length of studies
- Academic and personal motivation for the study abroad
- Language abilities (at least a sufficient level in the language of instruction in the host country)
- Extracurricular activities, internships, volunteer activities, etc.
- Correct format and punctual submission of the application
- Personal impression (if an interview takes place)
To get more information on the selection criteria please contact your departmental coordinator or get in touch with the International Office.
Additional information about Erasmus programs: applications from foreign students who are seeking an Erasmus exchange program in their home country are not given first priority.
