The Call For Papers is closed now.

Thanks to everyone who submitted to this year's Workshop on Conflict Dynamics. We have sent out information on your submission and look forward to seeing you in September!

Workshop on Conflict Dynamics
Nuffield College, University of Oxford
28-29 September 2020

We invite you to submit an abstract for the 4th edition of the Workshop on Conflict Dynamics at Nuffield College, University of Oxford, 28-29 September 2020. The aim is to bring together early career researchers working on armed conflict, broadly defined, to discuss and receive feedback on their research from their peers and senior researchers. Participants are invited to present their own work, preferably projects in their early stages, and provide feedback for other presenters.

The format of the workshop is designed to allow extended and in-depth reflection on work in progress among early career researchers working on similar topics and with similar research interests. A professor or postdoc will act as discussant for each panel. In thematic panels, each presenter will have 15 minutes for presentation, 15 minutes for feedback from the discussant and 15 minutes for feedback from the audience.

Participants will be kindly requested to submit their paper two weeks in advance (14 September 2020) to give the discussant time to prepare feedback and to allow all the participants to read the papers and choose which sessions they would like to attend.

The workshop starts on Monday, 28 September 2020 at 9:30 and ends Tuesday, 29 September 2020 at 17:30. We will provide lunch as well as tea/coffee breaks on both days and organize an Oxford-style, formal group dinner on Monday evening. Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements, but we will make a block reservation at a college to assist you with finding accommodation. In case the COVID-19 pandemic will not allow us to conduct the workshop on site, we will offer alternatives formats to conduct the workshop remotely.

In the unlikely case that we will not receive sufficient funding, we will unfortunately have to raise a participation fee. By submitting an abstract for the workshop, you therefore agree to cover the participation fee of £60 per person depending upon confirmation of funding.

Preference will be given to projects in their early stages. We will inform you about the outcome of your application by 30  May 2020. In case you have any further questions don't hesitate to get in touch. We're very much looking forward to your submissions!
