Job announcement: open position in the NLP group

The NLP group at the University of Mannheim [1] invites applications for

ONE PHD OR POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER IN NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING

Applicants should have a strong (undergraduate/graduate) degree in computer science, NLP, AI, machine learning or a related discipline and strong coding skills. Applicants for the postdoc position are expected to have a proven publication track record at top-tier venues in the field of NLP.  

The researcher will be located at the Data and Web Science Group (DWS) of the University of Mannheim and will join a research project funded by the German Research Foundation on scientometrics and NLP for mining scientific publications in collaboration with GESIS (Philipp Mayr-Schlegel), the institute for Applied AI at Stuttgart Media University (Kai Eckert) and Fraunhofer ISI (Henning Kroll): the project has a strong software engineering focus and overlaps with a variety of „hot“, current topics in NLP at the intersection between representation learning, (multilingual) natural language understanding and generation and applications – see DBLP [2,3] for a list of publications and research topics we work on.

Duration: 2–3 years depending on the experience and qualifications.

Salary range: according to German public scale TV-L E13 100% (full time, commensurate with experience and qualifications).
