Professorship for Machine Learning (W3 professorship)
The successful candidate should complement the research focus “Mastering Large and Complex Data in Business and Society” of the Institute of Computer Science and Information Systems as well as the Data Science research at the University of Mannheim in general. We expect outstanding, internationally recognized research achievements in the field of machine learning in one or more of the following areas:
- Image processing
- Network analysis
- Time series analysis
- Sensor data processing
- Audio data processing
- Software analysis
We expect the successful candidate to raise third-party funds and to participate in the university's self-administration. Furthermore, we expect interdisciplinary cooperation with economics and social sciences in the context of the university's Data Science activities. Early-career researchers are explicitly encouraged to apply.
Appointment requirements are based on § 47 of the State University Law (LHG) of Baden- Württemberg. Appointment requirements are a completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude, a completed doctorate, and additional scientific achievements as evidenced by a habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements, which may also have been achieved in an activity outside the university sector.
For the first appointment to a professorship, a probationary period of three years may initially be agreed upon for the employment relationship in accordance with state law provisions.
