Biography

Dr. Pedro Ortiz Suarez is a postdoctoral researcher in the Data and Web Science Group at the University of Mannheim, working with Prof. Dr. Simone Paolo Ponzetto and Prof. Dr. Christian Bizer. His work is focuses on the development of large corpora for training language models, specially for under resourced languages and historical languages. I am interested in tasks such as Name Entity Recognition (NER), Dependency Parsing and Part-of-Speech tagging, Machine Translation and Document structuration.

Pedro was previously a PhD from Inria and Sorbonne Université, France. He is the leader of the OSCAR project and currently one of the funding members of the BigScience project.
