SARS-CoV-2 Occupational Health and Safety Regulation Expires

On 25 January 2023, the federal government has decided that the SARS-CoV-2 occupational health and safety regulation will expire prematurely on 2 February 2023. This means that the University of Mannheim will also lift the measures to fight the coronavirus pandemic at the workplace. We will remove posters and stickers with reminders of protective measures that have expired in the upcoming weeks.

  • Hygiene policy

    The University of Mannheim’s hygiene policy will expire on 2 February 2023.

  • Working from home

    The current regulations on working from home due to the coronavirus pandemic will expire on 28 February 2023. As of 1 March, the teleworking regulations will apply. Academic staff members will return to the regulations that applied before the pandemic. For non-academic staff members, the new telework agreement will enter into force, meaning that you can work from home for up to 50 percent of your working time. Until 1 March, you can coordinate the new regulations within your team and submit a formal telework request, if applicable.

  • Working together in an office

    You are no longer obliged to keep a distance of at least 1.5 meters to other persons on campus. This also means that there are no longer pandemic-related restrictions for sharing offices.

  • Wearing masks in university buildings

    You are no longer obliged to wear a mask on campus.

    If you have symptoms like a sore throat that do not limit your capability to work, the President's Office still recommends wearing an FFP2 mask and maintaining distance to other people on the university’s premises to reduce the risk of infection.

  • Masks and tests provided by the university

    The Department of Procurement will provide Covid-19 tests and FFP2 masks to employees until the current supply is used up.

  • Recommendation for persons with symptoms

    If you have symptoms like a sore throat that do not limit your capability to work, the President's Office still recommends wearing an FFP2 mask and maintaining distance to other people on the university’s premises to reduce the risk of infection.

  • Ventilation systems

    The ventilation systems will return to their usual, energy-optimized mode. This means that their capacity is no longer reduced and they are operated in their usual, energy-efficient mode. This applies in particular to lecture halls.
