Changes to the Application Process

In light of the current coronavirus situation, there will be considerable changes to the application process. Therefore, our websites currently only provide you with a general orientation, as they only reflect the “regular” application process.

Every application is unique, as admission requirements and necessary documents of proof vary depending on where an applicant comes from and the qualifications they hold. By clicking on the relevant box below, you can get a concise overview of the requirements you need to fulfill to complete your application

German Applicants

Information for applicants with German citizenship and/or a German university entrance qualification.

Citizens of the EU/EEA

Information for citizens of countries within the EU/EEA who do not have a German university entrance qualification.

Citizens from outside of the EU/EEA

Information for citizens of countries outside of the EU/EEA who do not have a German university entrance qualification.

Study without Taking the Abitur

Would you like to study but you didn’t take the Abitur? You can still apply if you have very good German language skills. More information is available, in German, here.

Preferential Admission

Preferential admission is given to successful applicants who have to delay starting university because they are completing an official volunteer service as defined by German regulations.

Admission to an Advanced Semester

Information for students transferring from another higher education institution or changing degree program.
