Besides outstanding tuition, the University of Mannheim has a lot more to offer. The opportunities for personal development, expanding your own interests and making new friends are almost endless – for example, you can take advantage of the university sports program, take part in the uni league, become involved in a student organization or acquire experience as a student assistant at a chair. I also really like the city of Mannheim because it's neither too big nor too small. Studying at the University of Mannheim means more than just completing a degree – it's actually a vibe.

The University of Mannheim not only has an excellent reputation, but also the beautiful Schloss, which I immediately fell in love with. Students of the bachelor’s program in Mathematics in Business and Economics explore a variety of topics. Being confronted with new problems each day and discovering different facets of mathematics every time is particularly intriguing to me. The program combines lectures with exercises courses and tutorials, which creates a pleasant learning atmosphere and helps you internalize and apply what you have learned. Mannheim also has a lot to offer outside the classroom – no matter if you prefer to stroll along the Planken pedestrian zone, go to a Schneckenhof party, or dance the night away at a club in the city center.

  • Program overview

Business, Economics, and Mathematics: a perfect combination in a digitalized world! Often invisible yet irreplaceable, mathematics can be found everywhere in our daily lives and in economic processes. Be it artificial intelligence of smartphones, weather forecasts in apps or on TV, online advertising on social media, or delivery routes for online shopping: all of this would be unthinkable without mathematical tools.

In the bachelor's program in Mathematics in Business and Economics at the University of Mannheim, students do not only acquire knowledge in mathematical fundamentals and techniques, but also learn to place mathematical questions of different kinds into economic context. The main areas of focus are applied fields such as stochastics, optimization and mathematical finance. Apart from gaining expertise in the subject, students of the University of Mannheim can also benefit from many other advantages, for instance a semester abroad, diverse leisure activities, as well as active exchange with companies in numerous industries.

From the second year onwards, you can contribute to the study progress of your fellow students by becoming a tutor yourself.

Examinations of the degree program in Mathematics in Business and Economics can be recognized if you want to study to become an actuary (DAV) at the German Association of Actuaries (Deutsche Aktuarvereinigung e.V.). This way, the training for becoming an actuary (DAV) which employees of German insurance companies complete alongside their work is shortened. The degree in Mathematics in Business and Economics is a huge advantage in the application process of insurance companies.

During their studies, students can already test and apply their mathematical skills in statistics and artificial intelligence in the scope of cooperation projects with companies. Together with professors, the Students' Association for Data Analytics & Statistics STADS works jointly on questions set by our cooperation partners in business and economy. You can take part in STADS activities right from the first semester.

Thanks to the good organization of the program, many students complete their degree within the standard period of study, including a semester abroad.
