Involved Professors

School of Business Administration

Since the spring semester 2018, Prof. Dr. Carmela Aprea holds the Chair of Economic and Business Education – Instructional Systems Design and Evaluation at the University of Mannheim. Previously, she was Professor of Economic and Business Education at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and Professor of Vocational Training Research at the Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training in Lugano.

Prof. Dr. Moritz Fleischmann is Professor and holds the Chair of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the University of Mannheim. He is also the Academic Director of the ESSEC-Mannheim Modular Executive MBA Program at the Mannheim Business School.

 

Prof. Dr. Armin Heinzl is chairholder of the Chair of General Management and Information Systems at the University of Mannheim since 2002. The aim of his research is to develop theories and methods for the design of IT systems and IT infrastructures as well as for software development.

 

Prof. Dr. Hartmut Höhle joined the University of Mannheim in Fall 2017 and holds the chair of Enterprise Systems. Previously, he was an Associate Professor of Information Systems at the Sam Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas.The main thrust of his research is to understand how firms can design, implement and use enterprise systems to support employees and service customers. In the past, he has particularly focused on the design of enterprise systems that can be used to deliver services and products through omni-channel environments

 

Prof. Dr. Ernst Maug Ernst Maug has been professor for Corporate Finance at the University of Mannheim Business School since February 2006. He served the school as Associate Dean for Research and director of the business school’s doctoral programs. He is president-elect of the European Finance Association.

 

Prof. Dr. Alexandra Niessen-Ruenzi is chairholder of the Chair of Corporate Governance. Research areas are corporate governance, corporate finance, and asset management. A special focus is on gender differences on financial markets: How do female and male individuals invest on capital markets? 

Prof. Dr. Stefan Ruenzi is chairholder of the Chair of International Finance. The chair conducts research on various aspects of financial markets, with a focus on asset management & mutual funds, empirical asset pricing & liquidity, as well as media & advertising.

Prof. Dr. Christoph Spengel holds the Chair of Business Administration and Taxation II at the University of Mannheim since 2006. Furthermore, he is academic director of the Mannheim Master of Accounting & Taxation at Mannheim Business School (MBS) and director and speaker of the Leibniz Science Campus “MannheimTaxation” (MaTax).

 

School of Humanities

Prof. Dr. Angelika Storrer has been Professor of German Linguistics at the School of Humanities at the University of Mannheim since 2014. Her research focuses on language and communication in social media, corpus linguistics (methods, resources, didactics), Internet lexicography and the analysis of multimodal hypertexts.

Prof. Dr. Hartmut Wessler is Professor of Media and Communication Studies at the University of Mannheim and project director at the Mannheim Center for European Social Research (MZES). His research focuses on comparative aspects of political communication. He also serves as the University of Mannheim's liaison officer to the German Research Foundation (DFG).

 

School of Law and Economics

Prof. Dr. Thomas Fetzer has held the Chair of Public Law, Regulatory Law and Tax Law at the University of Mannheim since 2012. He is also Director of the Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation (MaCCI) and the MannheimTaxation ScienceCampus (MaTax).

 

Prof. Dr. Carsten Trenkler is Professor of Empirical Economics at the University of Mannheim since 2007. He also holds a position as Research Professor at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremburg. His research interests are Univariate and Multiple Time Series Analysis, Bootstrapping and Shrinking Methods.

 

School of Social Sciences

Prof. Dr. Annelies Blom is Research Professor Data Science and Director of the German Internet Panel (GIP). In addition, she leads a number of research projects on data science topics at the Collaborative Research Center 884 “Political Economy of Reforms” and the Mannheim Center for European Social Research (MZES).

Prof. Thomas Gschwend, Ph.D.  is a Professor for Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences at the School of Social Sciencesand a project director at the Mannheimer Zentrum für Europäische Sozialforschung (MZES), University of Mannheim.

Prof. Dr. Florian Keusch is an Assistant Professor of Statistics and Methodology at the University of Mannheim School of Social Sciences and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Joint Program in Survey Methodology (JPSM) at the University of Maryland. He also serves on the Faculty Board of the International Program in Survey and Data Science (IPSDS).

Center for European Economic Research

Prof. Dr. Irene Bertschek  is head of the research department “Digital Economy” at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim and Professor of Economics of Digitalisation at Justus Liebig University Giessen.

 

Dr. Georg Licht  is head of the ZEW Research Department “Economics of Innovation and Industrial Dynamics”. He has been holding this position since June 1994. Before that, he was a senior researcher both at ZEW and the University of Augsburg. He obtained his doctoral degree at the University of Augsburg and holds a degree in economics from the University of Heidelberg.

School of Business Informatics and Mathematics

Prof. Dr. Heiko Paulheim is professor for Data Science at the University of Mannheim. His research interest lies in the area of knowledge graphs on the web and their applications, data quality and data cleaning on knowledge graphs and societal impact of artificial intelligence.

Prof. Dr. Simone Paolo Ponzetto  joined the Data and Web Science Group in February 2013 as Juniorprofessor and holds since February 2016 the Chair of Information Systems III (Enterprise Data Analysis) as full professor at the University of Mannheim, where he leads the Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval group. 

 

University Library Mannheim

Dr. Sabine Gehrlein is Director of the Mannheim University Library. The library’s objective is to provide the best possible literature and information infrastructure for research, teaching and study at the university. One focus is on research data management, for instance the UL Research Data Center or cooperation projects such as the BERD Center and the OCR BW Competence Center.
