Center of Learning Environment Development

The University of Mannheim attaches particular importance to a positive and high-quality learning environment. Irrespective of their gender, origin, background or personal circumstances, all students at the University of Mannheim can expect to be well-equipped to successfully complete their studies.

The main task of the departments and research institutions of the Center of Learning Environment Development is to coordinate the University's efforts to improve teaching across all schools, for example by stipulating university-wide principles of good teaching.

The University’s teaching staff can contact the Department of Educational Development and eLearning for advice with regard to technical, didactic, and legal issues as well as regarding further education and the development of their curricula.

The main tasks of the Center for Teacher Education and Educational Innovation (ZLBI) include the enhancement of teacher training and the supervision of students of the programs in Teacher Education and Economic and Business Education.

Furthermore, every year, students can choose from a variety of interdisciplinary seminars for their professional qualification that are organized by the Center for Development of Key Competencies (ZfS).

The Center of Learning Environment Development directly reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs, Teaching and Equal Opportunity. It comprises the following departments and research institutions:
