Supporting the renowned Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences (GESS) at the University of Mannheim is of particular concern to the University of Mannheim Foundation. Therefore, we invited the doctoral students Leonie Gehrmann and Leo Schmallenbach from the GESS to give two short presentations on interesting aspects of their dissertation projects via ZOOM on 19 May 2021.
Leonie Gehrmann’s dissertation includes an analysis of print advertisements from the last 200 years using data science methods. Leo Schmallenbach’s research focuses on the impact of social processes, such as interactions in the team, on the creation and dissemination of knowledge.
After their presentations, the two speakers had a lively discussion and Q&A session with the participants. We thank everyone who participated in our virtual event, and particularly Ms. Gehrmann and Mr. Schmallenbach as well as Dr. Golareh Khalilpour, the managing director of the GESS, for the great collaboration and the informative presentations.
Doctoral students of the GESS receive 20,000 euros of financial support per year. In addition, the doctoral students get the necessary research equipment, a workplace as well as supervision tailored to individual needs. Support the early-stage researchers at the GESS together with the University of Mannheim Foundation and donate now – partial amounts for a GESS scholarship are also very welcome:
