Renewal Schneckenhof
Whether it’s the Norwegian parties, the Schlossfest or lunch breaks: The Schneckenhof of the University of Mannheim brings people together. Generations of students and alumni have made memories for life here – at parties, too, of course, but not only. In addition, it is the perfect place for many students and employees to relax and take a break on campus.
The name Schneckenhof (“snail yard”) derives from the four little towers that can be found on the staircases and have the form of snail shells. The Schneckenhof has now become outdated and is in need of refurbishment in many areas, so that it is no longer representative of a university like the University of Mannheim.
Meanwhile, we have started our renovation work in the Schneckenhof. The new benches have been given a fresh design and fitted with wooden slats made from certified local oak. We are thus setting an example for quality and sustainability. The use of regional materials was particularly important to us, not only to ensure the longevity of the new seating, but also to make a contribution to environmental protection.
The new seating not only gives the Schneckenhof an attractive appearance, but also invites you to enjoy a relaxing break in the midst of busy campus life.
