Career
When I came to Mannheim to pursue my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, I did not expect to still be here six years later. After spending a fantastic semester abroad in Toronto in my third year, my bachelor’s program already came to a close. Impressed by the quality and variety of teaching at the University of Mannheim, I continued my studies in the Mannheim Master in Management (MMM). As we were very flexible in selecting courses, I took the opportunity to deepen my knowledge and specialize in certain fields. I also took advantage of the opportunity to study several months abroad again, this time at the ESSEC Business School near Paris. In addition to my studies, I completed various internships and gained valuable insights into tax consulting and auditing, business consulting as well as mergers and acquisitions. I also worked as a research assistant, gaining my first experience in research and teaching. After having earned my master’s degree, I directly started my doctorate at the Chair of Strategic and International Management and thus decided once again to stay at the University of Mannheim.
Tips for starting your career
My tip for students and prospective students is to embrace the large variety of courses and not be intimidated by it. Instead, they should see the multifaceted options as opportunities and sources of inspiration for their own careers, and when in doubt, they should trust their intuition.
Relevance of the studied program
Studying at the University of Mannheim provided me with a comprehensive overview of the different facets of a company as well as many opportunities to specialize and deepen my interests. In addition to these content-related competencies, my studies taught me how to handle challenges and sparked my enthusiasm to pursue a doctorate.
