The President’s Office has to be notified before the university can accept funds from third parties. You can find further information in the Important Information section and in the letter from the Vice President for Research that can be downloaded on the Division I website. If you have any questions regarding notifying the university about external funding for your project, please contact Division I. The contact person depends on the external funding provider:
For all project proposals which are received centrally and coordinated by the University of Mannheim, or for which internal pre-selection is necessary, the Notification of Third-Party Funding must be submitted with the proposal.
This applies to the following external funding providers or financing processes:
For many research projects, submitting a Notification of Third-Party Funding after receiving an Official Grant Award Notification fulfills the requirements. All you need to do is fill in the Notification of Third-Party Funding (see below), providing information on your project and the external funds raised. Then, send a digital copy of the completed Notification via e-mail to research
Depending on the circumstances, you may also need to submit a Notification of Financial Donations or a Notification of Material Donations.
The Act on Higher Education of the Land of Baden-Württemberg (LHG) and the Policy on External Funds of the Land of Baden-Württemberg (DMRL) stipulate that the President's Office has to be informed about planned, externally-funded projects. The sections of the German Criminal Code (StGB) regarding taking bribes are designed to protect researchers from being accused of accepting bribes. For this reason, research proposals, programs and contracts are signed by the Executive Vice President or the President.
