Due to a change in certificates, the “eduroam” wireless must be reinstalled on your mobile devices (notebooks, smartphones, tablets) by 13 June 2023.
- Information for employees: This affects only your notebooks and (if applicable) smartphones and tablets provided by the university and not the stationary desktop computer (tower) in your office (e.g., in the university’s administration). (The stationary desktop computers mostly use a LAN connection).
- Information for students: For participating in an online examination, a working wireless connection is mandatory. Please reinstall “eduroam” before the deadline expires, to not jeopardize your online examination.
What do I need to consider for the installation?
Please use the official installation program “CAT eduroam”, available at https://cat.eduroam.org for the reinstallation. We have updated our instructions. At https://www.uni-mannheim.de/en/it/instructions/wireless-access/, you will find more information and tips.
Do I have to uninstall the existing version?
Generally, it is not required to uninstall the existing version. If problems occur during the reinstallation, please remove the existing connection profile for “eduroam” and use the installation program available at https://cat.eduroam.org to install the program again.
What happens if I fail to reinstall “eduroam” by 13 June 2023?
If you do not reinstall the wireless by 13 June 2023, your device will no longer connect to the “eduroam” wireless after 13 June 2023. However, you can also use another Internet connection (e.g., at home) to install the program after the deadline.
How can I be sure that I have installed the correct version?
If the entry under “AAA Certificate Services” shows that the certificate is valid until 1 January 2029, you have already installed the current version. If this is not the case, please reinstall the wireless. Please refer to the instructions at https://www.uni-mannheim.de/en/it/instructions/wireless-access/.
