InnoMA: Fund for Digital Teaching Started

Giving teachers financial leeway and supporting them in testing and developing digital teaching is the goal of the new “Innovative Digital Teaching” fund of the University of Mannheim. Over the next three years, a budget of EUR 1,1 million will be available for this.

The digitalization of teaching is an important goal of the University of Mannheim to promote internationalization and support the academic success of its students. In July 2021, the Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre (foundation for innovation in higher education teaching) has provided the University of Mannheim with around EUR 2.7 million for the InnoMA project.

A fund of EUR 1,1 million has now been set up. It aims at promoting projects on the implementation and development of digital teaching over the next three years. These days, the first projects are starting.

In December, the selection committee chose the projects for the first funding period from a large number of high-quality submissions. Apart from financial support, the projects will receive didactic and technical support. In addition, a scientific evaluation will be conducted as part of the accompanying research activities.

The total volume of the fund will be awarded to teaching projects in regular calls for applications until the spring semester of 2024. The projects have a duration of up to one year and can be funded with up to EUR 75,000 for individual projects and EUR 100,000 for joint projects.

In the first round, the following projects receive funding:

  • Innovative digitale Lehre in Analysis I, II (Innovative digital teaching in analysis I, II), project managers: Prof. boshi. Li Chen and Prof. Dr. Martin Schmidt (School of Business Informatics and Mathematics)
