Thomas Bräuninger elected Vice President of the Academy of Sciences in Mainz

Political scientist Prof. Dr. Thomas Bräuniger was elected chair and vice president of the humanities and social sciences class of the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz.


In 2000, Thomas Bräuninger completed his doctorate in Political Science at the University of Mannheim. In 2008 and 2009, he taught Political Science and International Relations at the University of Mainz and since 2009, he has been working as professor for Political Economy at the University of Mannheim. His research focuses, inter alia, on party competition and on political institutions.

The Academy of Sciences and Literature, Mainz is a non-university research institution and academic society. As part of the union of the eight German Academies of Sciences and Humanities, the Academy in Mainz cultivates and preserves  sciences, literature and culture.
