Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Christian Homburg, holder of the Chair of Business-to-Business Marketing, Sales & Pricing at the University of Mannheim, Business School, repeatedly achieves a top spot in the most important marketing research ranking. With 19 publications in the two leading scientific journals “Journal of Marketing” and “Journal of Marketing Research”, Professor Homburg is ranked second worldwide. Based on the number of publications in the two journals being published by the AMA, only Professor Kumar from the Georgia State University has been more productive.

Founded in 1937, the American Marketing Association (AMA) is the leading organization in the field of marketing and gathers more than 30.000 members from research and practice. The association publishes the two scientific journals “Journal of Marketing” and “Journal of Marketing Research”, which are among the most prestigious journals in the field. The AMA DocSIG, an initiative by the AMA, annually investigates all publications in these journals regarding authorship and university affiliation. For the current ranking, the AMA has examined all publications in the two leading journals between 2008 and 2017.
Professor Homburg focuses his research on market-oriented management, business-to-business marketing, sales and pricing. The professor, who is a faculty member of the University of Mannheim since 1999, is the director of the Institute for Market-Oriented Management in Mannheim, that counts more than 40 renowned members from the industry. As chair of the academic advisory board, he furthermore accompanies the management consulting firm Homburg & Partner, that was founded in 1997.
