Second funding period for research training group in mathematical stochastics

In the current approval round of the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Research Training Group in mathematical stochastics has been approved for a second funding period. Together with Heidelberg University, the University of Mannheim will receive about five million euros in the next four and a half years.

The researchers of the research training group (RTG, Graduiertenkolleg 1953) “Statistical Modeling of Complex Systems and Processes – Advanced Nonparametric Approaches”, are working at the intersection of probability theory and statistics. Their goal is to advance basic research in this field. Like in the first funding phase, the RTG offers doctoral researchers an advanced mathematical basis on which a number of application scenarios are built, such as for modelling and analysis of social networks or the shared economy field.
