Welcome Center for International Scholars

The Welcome Center of the International Office is the central service center for international researchers at the University of Mannheim. We offer comprehensive advice and support for international researchers (doctoral students, post-docs, professors and visiting scholars).

In addition, we assist and advise the (hosting) chairs and supervisors at the schools.

We offer individual consultation and tailor-made support for international scholars and provide information on a variety of topics that are important for living and working in Mannheim and its surroundings.

Registration of International Scholars by the Chairs and Institutes

We kindly ask all chairs and institutes to register your international researcher by completing a short registration form. As soon as the Welcome Center has received the registration form, we will begin supporting you and the international scholar in all non-academic matters - even long before his or her arrival and/or the beginning of the employment.

Relocation

Here, international researchers will find comprehensive information about all necessary formalities to be dealt with before and during their stay at the University of Mannheim. The Welcome Center provides individual support during the entire relocation process from the preparation of your arrival through to your departure. Here, you will find information about:

Guesthouse and International Meeting Center (IBZ)

The Guesthouse offers accommodation in the immediate vicinity of the campus. Both the tenants of the Guesthouse and the institutions of the university make intensive use of the International Meeting Center (IBZ) for cultural exchange.
