Cooperation Partners / Eligible Universities

Information on eligibility
The University of Mannheim's university sports programme is aimed at students and employees of the University of Mannheim. As a result of cooperation agreements between the University of Mannheim and other universities, their students also enjoy student status in Mannheim in relation to the range of university sports on offer. This semester, this applies to students of the following universities:

  • DHBW Mannheim
  • Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences
  • Mannheim University of Applied Sciences
  • Pop Academy Mannheim
  • Mannheim State University of Music and Performing Arts
  • Heidelberg University
  • University of the Federal Employment Agency (HdBA)

In addition, members of the following institutions can participate in the sports activities:

  • Fan club of the university sport
  • Mannheim Business School
  • University of Mannheim Service and Marketing GmbH
  • Centre for European Economic Research
  • Fröbel Seminar

For students of the University of Mannheim, Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, DHBW Mannheim, University of Music and Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences, the valid student card is also the SportsCard. All other members of the various institutions require a SportsCard to participate in university sports. The SportsCard can be booked at any time, is valid for one semester (semester period of the University of Mannheim), is not transferable and is not automatically extended. Registration takes place online. The SportsCardist is also required for attending the free courses and must always be presented without being asked. The SportsCardist is also your personal participation ticket and is not transferable. It must always be presented together with a valid student ID, a valid certificate of matriculation or proof of employment or membership. In case of doubt, the presentation of a valid identity card may be requested.

In principle, registration is only necessary for courses that are marked in the sports programme with the note A.e. (= registration required) (except for prior registration for the SportsCard, see above). A distinction must be made whether these are courses with costs or whether only the number of participants should be regulated. The information about the course prices can be found in the sports program behind the respective course offer. The number of participants in the individual courses is mostly limited. If too few people register, the event must unfortunately be cancelled. In this case we will refund the amount paid in. Further claims of the registered participants are excluded. Refunds after the start of the course are unfortunately not possible. For any form of rebooking or cancellation, a processing fee of 10.00 € will be charged, regardless of the time.

The University of Mannheim is entitled to collect the fee by direct debit from the account specified by IBAN and BIC. In the event that the direct debit is not honored, in the event of an objection to the direct debit, or in the event of an incorrectly specified account connection, the name and address of the University of Mannheim will be used so that a payment claim can be asserted. In the case of non-redemption, this fact will be recorded in a blocking file. The blocking will be lifted as soon as the fee for the booked event and the processing fee charged by the Institute of Sports of the University of Mannheim have been paid. The processing fee arises from revocation of the payment, insufficient funds in the account, or the provision of incorrect account details. In this case, a processing fee of € 10.00 per case will be charged in addition to the course fee. Advance notice of the direct debit will be sent by email by the payee with a fixed lead time before the due date. For further information, please visit

Students of the Mannheim University Region are insured against accidents in connection with university sports as well as when attending courses. Not included in the insurance cover is free sporting activity outside of the organized exercise activities of the Institute of Sports (e.g. free play groups, free exercise, free tennis, individual training in the fitness and weight studio). In the case of courses of other organizers, which are only mediated by the Institute of Sport or are held in cooperation, the participants themselves are responsible for their own insurance coverage. Employees of the University of Mannheim as well as participants of ABSOLVENTUM, FdH, GESIS, ZEW, Universität Mannheim Service und Marketing GmbH and Popakademie Mannheim are generally not insured when participating in university sports and are therefore responsible for their own insurance coverage and are only insured through their own accident or health insurance.
