Maximilian was born in Landshut, Germany. He completed his Bachelor and Master studies in Economics at the University of Regensburg during which he spent one semester abroad at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. During his Master studies he was part of the Elite Program “Honors” which promotes the most promising students of Bavaria. Besides his studies Maximilian worked as a research and teaching assistant for the Chairs of Statistics, Theoretical Economics, International and Monetary Economics, and Econometrics. He also gained valuable practical experience at the Center for European Economic Research (ZEW), the Bayerische Landesbank, KPMG, and most recently the European Central Bank. His research interests are mainly in the fields of Empirical Macroeconomics, especially Financial Markets, and Econometrics. In his free time Maximilian is engaged in all kinds of sports.
