Mohamed Firas Tarkhani was born in 1997 in Carthage, Tunisia. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minor in Economics at the University of Mannheim. After graduation, he has worked for one year in the consulting and financial services industry (with Wüstenrot & Württembergische and with KPMG Germany) and gained knowledge and experience in risk management for banks.
During his studies, he has worked as a student teaching assistant in Real Analysis 1, Microeconomics and Econometrics. In his bachelor thesis, he proved the Bichteler-Dellacherie Theorem, using tools of financial mathematics and arbitrage theory. He is interested in empirical work revolving around uncertainty and in exploring the concepts of probability weighting and tail-events. He has joined the CDSE via the Master of Economics Research track.
Outside of academia, he is engaged as a Treasurer for Diaspora in Action e.V. in order to consolidate the Tunisian diaspora community around the world by sharing knowledge and enabling collaboration within a digital platform.
In his free time, he enjoys running, training for the next marathon.
