Hilal Tanyaş is a Ph.D. student at the doctoral center in Social and Behavioral Science (CDSS) of the University of Mannheim. She holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Psychology from Middle East Technical University (METU). Throughout her studies, she worked as a project assistant for The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and the coordinator of METU Attention & Memory Lab. During the Cognitive Psychology Master’s Program at METU, she was particularly interested in cognitive control and source memory. On the one hand, she investigated control and learning mechanisms in the Stroop task as part of her first-year research project. On the other hand, most of her work explored source memory, with the main aim of understanding factors influencing the source monitoring processes. Specifically, her master’s thesis focused on how to measure source memory as well as its relationship with item memory. She now wishes to pursue her academic career with a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology and to study source memory from a modeling perspective.
