Mirna El Masri is a PhD student at the Center for Doctoral Studies in Social and Behavioral Sciences (CDSS), University of Mannheim, and a Research Fellow at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA), in Hamburg. She holds a MSc in International Relations from the University of Essex, United Kingdom, and a BA in Social Sciences from the University of Braunschweig, Germany.
At the GIGA, she works on a project investigating sources of the radicalization of right-wing-, left-wing-, and Islamist groups. Her work involves conducting quantitative research within the project “MOTRA” (Monitoring System and Transfer Platform Radicalization). Prior to joining the GIGA, she worked as a Program Assistant at the Heinrich Böll Foundation (hbs) in Beirut, Lebanon.
Her current research interests include political violence, radicalization, terrorism, and quantitative methods.
