Mirna El Masri is a PhD student at the Center for Doctoral Studies in Social and Behavioral Sciences (CDSS), University of Mannheim, and a Research Associate at the German Center for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM), in Berlin. She holds a MSc in International Relations from the University of Essex, United Kingdom, and a BA in Social Sciences from the University of Braunschweig, Germany. 

At the DeZIM, she works on the project “Cluster Data-Methods-Monitoring“ with a focus on extremism and racism. Prior to joining the DeZIM, she worked as a Research Fellow at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) in Hamburg, where she was investigating sources of right-, left-, and Islamist radicalization. 

Her current research interests include political violence, radicalization, extremism, and quantitative methods.
