Speaker Bio
Benedict Probst is a leading expert in climate technology innovation, carbon markets, corporate climate strategies, and carbon removal. He is the founder and head of the Net Zero Lab at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, where he leads groundbreaking research on pathways to net-zero emissions. As of April 2024, he also serves as a Senior Research Fellow at the same institute, focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship research.
Before joining the Max Planck Institute, Benedict held academic positions at ETH Zurich, including as a Senior Researcher and Lecturer in the Group for Sustainability and Technology. His prior experience includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship at ETH Zurich and ongoing collaboration as a Fellow at the Cambridge Centre for Environment, Energy & Natural Resource Governance (C-EENRG) at the University of Cambridge.
Benedict holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Economics and Policy from the University of Cambridge, where he was awarded a full scholarship and received the Best Ph.D. Research Prize in 2019. He also earned master’s degrees in Environmental Policy (Cambridge) and Environment and Development (London School of Economics), where he was recognized for the best overall performance.
