Exams at the University of Mannheim
At the University of Mannheim, all examinations are planned and organized centrally. We offer a variety of different examination types and formats. We, that is the “Examinations Team”, a collaboration between the exam coordinators, educational development, and the University IT.
Digital exams
In recent years, we have focused on the digitalization of examinations. As a result, we can now offer many different versions of digital examinations formats, both on campus and off campus: We focus on providing our teaching staff and students with support that is tailored to their individual needs. Each examination will match the requirements of the module. At the same time, we provide our students with all the hardware, software, and network information they need for the examinations. In this way, we ensure that knowledge is tested competently and that students experience a smooth technical examination process.
We have learned a lot from our colleagues at the universities of Zurich and St. Gallen – and have already shared our work in the Baden-Württemberg network for digital examinations. We are happy to share our experience with you. If you have any questions or are interested in discussing digital examinations, please reach out.
We offer digital examinations in various formats, both on campus and off campus. We focus on on-campus formats for
- large groups: implemented as bring-your-own-device exams for several hundred students who simultaneously take an examination in a lecture hall
- small to medium-sized groups: implemented as computer lab exams with the option (in addition to the examination environment) of enabling other third-party applications for specific use
