University of Mannheim Teaching Award

Every year, on the occasion of the Universitätstag, the University of Mannheim honors two teachers who have distinguished themselves through excellent student evaluations, the practice-oriented teaching of specialist content, as well as great personal commitment and didactic diversity in recognition of their outstanding achievements in academic teaching. The winners of the Teaching Award are teachers who succeed in motivating students to a special degree and thus contribute to their excellent academic performance.

Further information can be found in the university press release. A report on the winners of the Teaching Award 2023 can be found here.

Announcement 2024

In 2024, the University of Mannheim will again offer a teaching award. This award is intended to make extraordinary teaching achievements at the University of Mannheim visible and to appreciate the great commitment of the teachers. Also achievements of teaching teams as well as concepts that test and apply eLearning formats can be submitted.

In 2024, junior professors and mid-level faculty with doctorates can be nominated for the teaching award. There will be a separate procedure for professorial teaching staff.

The prize money amounts to 5,000 Euros. In principle, it can be divided and is earmarked for teaching and learning.

Nominations can be made by the faculties/departments or the student councils. Independent proposals from the student councils are also welcome, but must be agreed in advance with the teacher to be nominated.

For more information, please refer to the cover letter (German only). For the nomination proposals, the forms are available for download on this page (German only).
