Purpose of Data Processing, Legal Basis and Consequences of Non-Disclosure
The University of Mannheim collects and processes personal data in order to facilitate contact with their graduates. The legal basis for data processing is art. 6 subsection 1 letter e in conjunction with subsection 3 GDPR in conjunction with section 12 subsection 1 sentence 3 LHG.
- Graduates are contacted e.g. for graduation ceremonies, fundraising, marketing, involvement in mentoring and support programs, connecting the university to society and to the industry, establishment and extension of research cooperations.

- Invitation to participate in rankings without divulging their e-mail address in line with art. 6 subsection 1 letter e in conjunction with subsection 3 GDPR and sections 5 subsection 1 and section 12 subsection 1 LHG.
- Sending information about the goings-on at the University of Mannheim to graduates and alumni on the basis of your consent in accordance with Art. 6 section 1 letter a GDPR.
- Invitation to participate in rankings by forwarding your e-mail address to the ranking providers on the basis of your consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR.
- Data processing is conducted based on the authorization in line with Art. 6 section 1 letter a GDPR. Graduates are contacted e.g. for graduation ceremonies, fundraising, marketing, involvement in mentoring and support programs, connecting the university to society and to the industry, establishment and extension of research cooperations.
The provision and processing of this data is necessary in order to participate in evaluations, surveys and rankings, to receive information about what is happening at the University of Mannheim, to maintain contact with alumni and alumnae and to provide quality assurance in the areas of teaching and learning.
Without providing the necessary data, it is not possible to receive information. There are no disadvantages in case you decide not to participate.

Recipients
In the case of course evaluations and other surveys in accordance with section 5 subsection 2 and 4 LHG, the data is forwarded to the respective school of the University of Mannheim.
For external rankings, the data is forwarded to the Business School of the University of Mannheim and FT-Rankings.
For sending invitations to graduation ceremonies, the data is forwarded to the respective school of the University of Mannheim.
Furthermore, legal regulations regarding archiving must be observed and documents must be offered to the university archive before deletion. The university archive decides on the archiving of the material.
Duration of storage
Personal data will be deleted in line with the following terms.
Contact
The data will be deleted no later than 80 years after disenrollment or, in the case of consent, after receipt of a revocation, whichever occurs first.- Participation in surveys for quality management and evaluations

The material may be transferred to the university archive responsible, which will usually store them for an indefinite period of time.
Data subject rights
You have the right
- to request information about your personal data processed by us under Art. 15 GDPR
- to request the correction of incorrect or incomplete personal data stored by us without delay under Art. 16 GDPR
- to request deletion of your personal data stored by us under Art. 17 GDPR

- in case you gave consent, to receive your personal data that you have provided to us in a structured, common and machine-readable format or to request the transfer to another controller under Art. 20 GDPR
- if you have given consent to data processing, to withdraw your consent to data processing without giving any reasons at any time; the withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
