The University of Mannheim offers a wide range of courses for founders. In addition, various institutions of the university offer targeted support for further development. Outside the university, founders can also get support from the city and the country.

MCEI – Mannheim Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation
The Mannheim Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MCEI) is the interdisciplinary center for entrepreneurship and innovation at the University of Mannheim. With our three core pillars inspiration, entrepreneurial education, and startup support, we help create a culture of learning, knowledge exchange, innovation, and excitement for startup development. We offer entrepreneurial students and startups affiliated with MCEI excellent opportunities to network along with support to challenge, test, and develop their business models with a strong focus on a “can-do mentality” and scaling up. Our offerings rest on a “pay it forward” mentality of give-and-take: MCEI’s success builds on highly motivated students tackling challenges in new ventures and experienced entrepreneurs who serve as mentors, speakers, role models, and facilitators.
Our vision is to create a culture of serendipity and a flourishing Startup Ecosystem in the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region and beyond.
InES – Institute for Enterprise Systems
The Institute for Enterprise Systems (InES) at the University of Mannheim is an interdisciplinary, faculty-independent research institution that actively manages the intercommunication between science and industry in the area of Enterprise Systems.
A principal objective tackled by the InES is the knowledge transfer from academia into practice, especially focussing on SME manufacturer and operators.
Within this realm, the Institute for Enterprise Systems supports the founding processes of new companies driven by founders that are still engaged in their academic studies. Furthermore, alumni can seek assistance towards self-employment. Special emphasis lies on the technical aid regarding current IT trends, consultancy regarding organizational problems and support in gaining a first financial founding (e.g. EXIST or research projects).
Our mission: Building up a strong foundation within the starting time by supporting innovators with sustainable scientific know-how and council.

External Offerings
MAFINEX Gründerverbund Rhein-Neckar
The Gründerverbund has two main goals. First, create a start-up-friendly climate at the region's universities. For example, professors are involved in the university network of the founders' association and are available to help start-ups with advice and practical help. Second, the comprehensive support of start-up projects through consultation, seminars or the mediation of support programs.
Gig7 – Gründerinnenzentrum Mannheim
The start-up center Gig7 offers femail business startup founders and female entrepreneurs a platform. The consultants are available with know-how, but also with their own experiences as founders and entrepreneurs.
