The University of Mannheim has a clear goal: It aims to be one of the leading international universities in the field of economic and social sciences.
The organization “Freunde der Universität Mannheim” (Friends of the University of Mannheim) supports the university on its way to the top. In return, the university gives a lot back to its supporters – for example, they receive privileged access to outstanding students and scientists. We will present our goals and services on these pages.
Scholarships for the Future – A Festive Evening at the University of Mannheim
157 students at the University of Mannheim will receive funding in the form of scholarships in the 2025/
At the scholarship ceremony on Thursday, November 6, 2025, the scholarship recipients met their sponsors in a festive setting. Prof. Dr. Cornelia Ruhe, Vice President for Academic Affairs, invited everyone to engage in personal exchange. In her welcome address, she emphasized the importance of the scholarships for the students – on the one hand, to honor existing commitment, and on the other, to give students the freedom to focus on their studies and further engagement.
Following this, Sabrina Scherbarth, honorary Managing Director of the University of Mannheim Foundation and Friends of the University of Mannheim, delivered the keynote speech.
After the official ceremony, the personal presentation of certificates took place in the university’s catacombs, carried out by board member Dr. Carl Otto Schill, who is responsible for mentoring the scholarship recipients.
Afterward, the scholarship holders had the opportunity to meet and talk with their sponsors in an informal get-together. The evening not only offered space for inspiring encounters but also for establishing meaningful connections – an important step toward personal and professional growth!
