Call for Applications – Research Stay 2027
Research Stay at an ENGAGE.EU Partner University
Grants available for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers at the University of Mannheim!
ENGAGE.EU offers grants to doctoral and postdoctoral researchers at the University of Mannheim to undertake a research visit at one of our ENGAGE.EU partner universities*. The call provides funding of up to €1,300 for a research stay of a minimum of two weeks (14 days) before 31 August 2027.
Please follow the instructions laid out on the ENGAGE.EU website. In your application for funding, you must explain your motivation and goals for the research stay and mention if you have previously participated in any ENGAGE.EU activity. Please enclose the following with your application:
- Motivation letter (in German or English)
- The official invitation letter from the ENGAGE.EU host university.
- A budget calculation indicating all planned expenses and potential additional funding.
Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria: Pertinence of the work that the applicant will carry out at the host university (60%); Support outlined in the invitation letter, e.g. access to installations, libraries and laboratories (15%); previous participation and involvement with ENGAGE.EU (15%); and reasonableness of the budget (10%).

Note: Funding given by ENGAGE.EU can be combined with other internal and external sources, provided it aligns with the conditions of public or university funds, third-party funding or other relevant schemes, and ensures that double funding for the same expense is excluded. In your motivation letter, please indicate whether you will have access to other sources of funding for the research visit.
The ENGAGE.EU Office at the University of Mannheim will share the results of the applications individually by 16 November 2026.

*Currently, no traveling funds from ENGAGE.EU can be used for visiting the University of St. Gallen, due to the existing status of Switzerland in Erasmus +. This goes beyond our control. Thank you for your understanding.
