Display name of the function ID

The first and last name of the owner must be replaced by a name that reflects the purpose of the account. Please follow these steps to change the display name of your function IDs.

Information for administrative staff members: This does not affect function IDson the administration’s Exchange server (usually named * (FP) Funktionspostfach).

Step 1

  • Go to the university’s user administration website https://admdx.uni-mannheim.de
  • Please login with your personal Uni-ID and your password.
  • After you logged in successfully, please go to the “Password” section and select the “Function ID” column. You will now see a list of the function IDs for which you have been named owner, when the account was created.

Step 2

  • Then click on the button “Change display name”:

Please enter the respective first name and last name for each account that is displayed. Entering the first name is optional. You may also leave this field empty. The display name must at least have 3 characters. If you do not want the non-personalized e-mail address in the Exchange address book, please do not check the box “Show this function ID in the Exchange address book”.

After the migration to Exchange, e-mails will be sent from the newly generated address (in this example with the sender name “Test Web-Interface” and the address test.web-interface@uni-mannheim.de). The previous addresses will not be lost. You will still receive the e-mails that are sent to the previous addresses. They will be automatically sent to the new Exchange inbox.

What happens if I fail to make the changes?

If you do not change the first name and last name, your personal first name and last name will appear several times for all your owned function IDs when we migrate to Exchange:

Therefore, we kindly ask you to make the relevant changes until 7 March 2022 at the latest so that there are no complications or misunderstandings for those using the function IDs when we migrate to Exchange.
