Terms of Use for a Leave of Absence and the Transition to Retirement

During a leave of absence (e.g., parental leave) or the transition to retirement (active as well as passive), the scope of how employees of the University of Mannheim can use M365 will change.

The regulations and effects for the individual groups of persons are shown below.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE EFFECTS
Professors / junior professors Full license (A5) will also be granted in the event of leave of absence.
Academic staff members The leave of absence leads to the loss of the full license (A5), a use at A1 level is still possible. All M365 applications can thus be used browser-based.
Non-academic staff members (library, administration, UNIT) The leave of absence leads to the loss of the full license (A5), a use at A1 level is still possible. All M365 applications can thus be used browser-based.
Assistants (with a degree / without a degree As students, they have an A3 license.
(External) adjunct lecturers As there is no direct employment relationship, this group does not have a M365 license.
Visiting professors and acting chairs Depending on their status: Handled like “internal” professors (see above).
RETIREMENT EFFECTS
normal retirees The transition to retirement corresponds to the end of the contract with the university. The chair can apply for an extension of the university ID so that the A1 license can be continued. All M365 applications can then be used in the browser version. A chair can also apply for a full license (A5) against payment of the costs.
Active retirees (senior professors) Emeritus professors automatically retain the full license (A5), all others automatically receive an A1 license: All M365 applications can thus be used in the browser version.
