On October 19, 2023, the next Academic Speed Dating on Data Science will take place at 2 p.m. This time, we will focus on Large Language Models and text data and are pleased to announce Prof. Dr. Markus Strohmaier as keynote speaker.

MCDS and the European University ENGAGE.EU jointly offer again a lecture series on the topic of “Data Science in Action” in fall semester 2023. Lectures will be held in English online via zoom every Thursday from 12 to 1.30 pm.

Together with the Data Science Center of the University of Bremen and the Digital Science Center of the University of Kiel, MCDS is organizing a workshop at the Informatik2023 conference in Berlin.

On March 9, 2023, employees and researchers from all disciplines working and researching in the field of Data Science at the University of Mannheim met again.

MCDS takes a look back on an eventful and successful year 2022

For the first time, the Mannheim Center for Data Science and the European University ENGAGE.EU organized a lecture series in the fall-winter semester of 2022, representing the broad spectrum of application areas of data science.

For the first time after a long break, an academic speed dating event on the topic of data science was held again at the University of Mannheim on 22 September 2022. Thirteen scientists reported on their research in short presentations.

The second working circle on digital business models and data literacy took place on 21 September 2022. The next face-to-face meeting of all participants is planned for spring 2023.

On 16 June 2022, Radio Regenbogen broadcast a radio interview with MCDS manager Dr Lea Oberländer on the occasion of the CONNECT conference that had taken place shortly before. The interview is only available in German.
