Salary index for family businesses 2024 published

Ten years after the first survey on the salary structure of managing directors in family businesses, a follow-up study was conducted in 2024 to update the findings. From July to October 2024, managers were again surveyed about their salary level and the salary components.

Family businesses form the backbone of the German economy – they stand for long-term thinking, regional roots and an entrepreneurial sense of responsibility. However, when it comes to remuneration, management culture and attractiveness as an employer, there is often a lack of comparability with corporations or start-ups. Salary issues in management in particular are rarely discussed openly.

The current study provides a data-based insight into salary structures at management level and shows how company sizes, age structures and understanding of roles have changed since 2014.
