Printers and Copiers for Employees
Ricoh Copier
Ricoh's multifunction devices are available to employees at the University of Mannheim. Here you will find various guides on this topic.
How do I use the Ricoh copier as a printer in Windows?
Please note: These instructions do not apply to the administration! Please contact IT Support directly (Hotline -2000, email itsupportuni-mannheim.de, MS Teams “UNIT Support”).
Important Note:
Please note that the copiers can only be accessed via the university Wi-Fi network “eduroam” if the device in question is logged into the Wi-Fi with a university ID that has the “staff” designation! This applies to all employee IDs.
For security reasons, student IDs (with the “student” designation) unfortunately cannot access the copiers directly.
Step 1:
Please find the IP address and model number of your Ricoh copier. You will need this information later during the printer setup process.Note: If you do not have the IP address on hand, please contact IT Support (Hotline -2000, email itsupportuni-mannheim.de, MS Teams “UNIT Support”). Please have the copier’s serial number ready when you contact them.
Step 2:
Please go to the following website: https://www.ricoh.de/support/ and enter your copier model in the search field, e.g., “IM C3010.”
Select the appropriate model from the results list and expand the “Drivers and Software” section. Click the link that appears to go to the download page:

On the download page, select your operating system and then the desired driver. We recommend either the “PCL6 Driver for Universal Print” or the “PS Driver for Universal Print”:

Click “Download” and save the file to your computer. Then open the file (in Firefox: click the download list in the upper-right corner and select the file from there):

If necessary, confirm that you want to run the file. The printer driver extraction program will launch:

Please make a note of the path where the driver will be extracted; by default, a folder under C:\Temp is suggested, as shown in the screenshot. Click the “Unzip” button to start the extraction process. Wait until it is complete:

Close the unzip program by clicking either the “X” or the “Close” button.
Step 3:
Now add the copier as a printer on your system. The following is an example of how to do this in Windows 10.Click Start → Settings (gear icon) → Bluetooth & devices → “Printers & scanners.”

Next, click “Add Device” at the top.
The system will now search for available printers. Wait a moment until the message “The printer you want is not listed” appears, then click “Add a new device manually.”

In the following dialog box, select the bottom option, “Add a local or network printer using manual settings,” and click “Next”:

On the next page, select the “Create New Connection” option and choose “Standard TCP/
IP Port” as the “Connection Type”:
In the “Hostname or IP Address” field, please enter the IP address assigned to your Ricoh copier. The “Port Name” field will also be automatically filled in with the IP address—please keep this and any other preselected settings as they are and click “Next”:

In the following dialog box, first click “Disk”:

In the dialog box that appears, click “Browse.”

Now please select the location where you previously extracted the printer driver. By default, this is located at C:\Temp. Navigate through the subfolders to the “disk1” folder and select the “oemsetup.inf” file.

Print Online
You would like to print something out? Just use your ecUM or library card to make printouts or photocopies in any of the libraries. You are somewhere else on campus? No problem! Please use our Online print service Papercut. Papercut is accessible from the university network or via VPN.
How can I print my documents?
You can either submit a print job from one of the University Library computers or directly from your mobile device. You will then be able to print out your documents within 48 hours using any photocopier of the library.
To this end, you need:
- sufficient balance on your virtual print account
- your ecUM or University Library card (to print on location)
Ready to print from your mobile device? Log in here:
How do I top up my virtual print account?
To transfer your ecUM credit to your personal print account, you can now use the UNIT application PayPerecUM. You can use this application on the public computers in the university library. There are two PayPerecUM terminals
- near the desks in the libraries A3 and A5,
- in the Schloss Ehrenhof,
- in the Central Lending Library in the Westflügel, and
- in Schloss Schneckenhof (info center).
You can identify the PayPerecUM terminals on the screen of the university library terminals by the words “Druckkonto aufladen” (“Recharge print account”). When you click on it, the application opens and you are guided step by step through the process, either in German or English:
- place the ecUM on the card reader,
- enter the password for your Uni-ID,
- view your account balances,
- enter the amount to be transferred.
Where can I top up my ecUM?
You can quickly and conveniently load your ecUM with cash at the registers in the cafeteria, Café Soleil, and Cafeteria EO.
Are you enrolled in the cashless Autoload program offered by the Mannheim Student Services Organization? Once you’ve registered for the Autoload program (online or at the information desk in the Mensaria am Schloss), you can top up your ecUM via direct debit through the Autoload service portal.
You can also find more information about topping up your ecUM card on the Studierendenwerk website.
How will my credit be refunded?
Any credit balance can be refunded (e.g., upon disenrollment). The reimbursement will usually be transferred to your bank account within three weeks. Cash payments are not possible.
To request a refund, please send an e-mail to itsupportuni-mannheim.de with the following information:
- First name, last name
- Uni-ID
- street, house number
- postal code, city
- IBAN
- BIC
