Academic Speed Dating – Experiments and Causal Research with AI (Thu, April 16, 2026, 2:00 PM, Schloss O 048)

On April 16, 2026 at 2:00 PM, the next Academic Speed Dating event of the Mannheim Center for Data Science will take place in Schloss, room O 048. This semester’s event focuses on “Experiments and Causal Research with AI.” We are delighted to announce Prof. Marc Ratkovic and Dr. Nicole Schwitter as keynote speakers.

The event offers an excellent opportunity for researchers from different disciplines to exchange ideas and discuss current developments at the intersection of data science, empirical research, and artificial intelligence. Guests who would like to attend without giving a presentation are very welcome. At the same time, researchers are encouraged to actively contribute by presenting their ongoing projects in a short talk. Up to five presentation slots are available and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The event will begin with two keynote presentations by Prof. Marc Ratkovic and Dr. Nicole Schwitter, who will share their perspectives on experiments and causal research in the context of AI. Further information about the talks will follow soon.

Additionally, researchers from the University of Mannheim will present their ongoing projects in short talks. These presentations are intended to spark new ideas and foster interdisciplinary collaboration.

The event will be moderated by Prof. Florian Keusch, member of the board of directors of the Mannheim Center for Data Science.

As always, Academic Speed Dating will also provide plenty of opportunities for informal exchange and networking. Following the short presentations, participants will discuss research ideas and potential collaborations in smaller groups in a relaxed and informal atmosphere over snacks and drinks.

The aim of Academic Speed Dating is to encourage interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration within the University of Mannheim’s research community.
