Elisa Sauerbier, M.Sc.

Short profile
Elisa Sauerbier has been a research associate and Ph.D. candidate at the Chair of SME Research and Entrepreneurship at the University of Mannheim since May 2023. During her management studies at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and the University of Mannheim, she focused early on sustainability issues, which she combined with her interest in entrepreneurship and social innovation. Additionally, she gained international experience during her semesters abroad at NHH – Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen and Católica School of Business & Economics in Lisbon. Through various practical experiences during her studies, Elisa Sauerbier developed a diverse skill set. Besides internships at renowned consulting firms, she also gained insights in the field of growth equity and has several years of experience working with startups.
In her research, Elisa Sauerbier combines her interest in entrepreneurship and innovation with social change, particularly focusing on alternative organizations. She investigates how these can be theoretically conceptualized and how alternative organizational practices are transformed by new technologies. A particular focus is on blockchain-based Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs).
