ifm Team Day 2026
With perfect weather, this year’s institute outing took us to Darmstadt. The trip began with an expert-led tour of the Mathildenhöhe, during which we gained in-depth insights into the architecture, history, and cultural significance of this outstanding Art Nouveau complex. A particular highlight was the tour of two architects’ villas, which impressively illustrated how modern residential and interior design concepts were shaped at the beginning of the 20th century. Afterward, we took a long walk to the Rosenhöhe, whose landscaping still offered numerous charming sights even at this late time of year. After lunch together at the Ratskeller, a tour of the Waldspirale was on the agenda. Inspired by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, this residential complex—with its more than a thousand individually designed windows—impressively illustrates the design principle of moving away from straight lines. Over coffee and cake at Café Gretchen, the eventful day came to a close in a pleasant atmosphere and among good company. Overall, the outing offered a successful blend of insights into art and architectural history, shared experiences, and stimulating professional and personal exchanges.
