IMPORTANT! DUE TO ORGANISATIONAL REASONS, THE EVENT DOES NOT TAKE PLACE – Academic Speed Dating on Data Science & User Behavior – Keynote by Prof. Dr. Jens Förderer (Thursday, 22.05.2025, 2 p.m., O 138 Fuchs-Festsaal)

This event offers a unique opportunity to connect with fellow researchers across disciplines and explore the role of data science in academic work. While we warmly welcome guests who wish to attend without presenting, we especially encourage researchers to actively contribute by giving a short presentation of their ongoing projects. There are five presentation slots available, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
This semester, the session will focus on the theme: “Platforms and User Behavior”
We invite presentations that explore digital platforms (e.g., social media, marketplaces, content platforms), user interaction and behavior, and empirical or theoretical work related to how design, algorithms, and platform policies influence outcomes. However, all interested researchers are welcome to attend.
The event will begin with a keynote lecture by Prof. Dr. Jens Förderer, one of Germany’s leading scholars in the field of digital platforms and innovation. Prof. Förderer holds the Chair of Information Systems II at the University of Mannheim. His award-winning research has been published in top-tier journals such as Management Science, Information Systems Research, and MIS Quarterly. His research has been supported by highly competitive grants, including a ERC Starting Grant from the European Research Council. His talk is titled “Quasi-Experiments in the Digital Economy: Best Practices & Applications”.
The goal of Academic Speed Dating is to foster interdisciplinary exchange and promote collaboration among researchers within the University of Mannheim.
