Data Access

The data of the German Internet Panel and the Mannheim Corona Study are available for scientific use in common formats. To order the data sets, please follow the instructions in the document below.

Citation Guidelines

All publications based on data of the German Internet Panel (GIP) or the Mannheim Corona Study (MCS) must contain the following references:

  • GIP Data

    • “This article uses data from the wave(s) [XX-XX] of the German Internet Panel (GIP; DOI: [insert DOI(s) here]; Blom et al. [year of data publication]). A study description can be found in Blom et al. (2015). The GIP is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of the Collaborative Research Center 884 (SFB 884; Project Number 139943784; Project Z1).”
    • Blom, A. G., Gathmann, C., and Krieger, U. (2015). Setting Up an Online Panel Representative of the General Population: The German Internet Panel. Field Methods, 27(4), 391–408. DOI: 10.1177/1525822X15574494
    • Each wave has its own DOI and citation. They are listed on the website of the GIP data archive at the GESIS-Leibniz Institute for Social Sciences.
  • GIP Data from On-Site Data Access (ODA)

    • “This article uses data from the wave(s) [XX-XX] of the German Internet Panel (GIP; DOI: [insert DOI(s) here]; Blom et al. [year of data publication]). The following variables used in our analyses are only available via the On-Site Data Access (ODA) facilities of the GIP: [insert variables]. A study description can be found in Blom et al. (2015). The GIP is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of the Collaborative Research Center 884 (SFB 884; Project Number 139943784; Project Z1).”

Additional funding for the MCS was provided by the German Federal Ministry for Labor and Social Affairs (BAMS).”
