Lecture Series: Data Science in Action (fall semester 22, Thursdays 12-1.30 pm, online)

MCDS and the European University ENGAGE.EU jointly offer a new lecture series on the topic of “Data Science in Action” in fall semester 2022. Lectures will be held in English online via zoom every Thursday from 12 to 1.30 pm.

In the fall semester of 2022, the Mannheim Center for Data Science (MCDS) and the European University ENGAGE.EU jointly offer a new lecture series on “Data Science in Action”. Renowned scientists from the two ENGAGE.EU partner universities Mannheim and Toulouse 1 Capitole will provide insights into their data-based research. The speakers represent various disciplines, including business administration, computer science, political science, business education, media and communication studies, sociology, psychology, and linguistics. The lecture series thus represents the relevance of data science in its entire breadth for science and society.

Lectures will be held online in Zoom in English every Thursday from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 15. There will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions after the lecture. The course is open to all interested master's and doctorate students, as well as students from ENGAGE.EU partner universities.

Doctorate students of the Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences (GESS) also have the possibility to integrate the course into their curriculum as a “bridge course” with 5 ECTS. An essay must be submitted as an examination (more information to follow).
