What is my Uni-ID (user ID)?
Your Uni-ID is your personal user ID of the University of Mannheim. The Uni-ID is used to verify the identity of the members of the University of Mannheim. Together with the individual password it is your log in for the following services, among others:
- E-mail and Calendar
- Network: WLAN and VPN access
- University Library including printing at the University Library
- Self-service terminals
- Portal²
- ILIAS
- FileService

How do I receive my Uni-ID?
Uni-ID for students
If you go to the startpage (Uni-ID of the University of Mannheim) of the section in the student portal (Portal²), you can retrieve your Uni-ID and the initial password. You can use the access information from the online application to login. After you have changed the initial password, you can use your Uni-ID to login.You are a student at a cooperating institution?

If you are a new employee at the University of Mannheim, a personal Uni-ID is automatically created. A confidential letter with the Uni-ID will be sent to you via internal in-house mail. If a Uni-ID already exists (for example if you are first a student and are then employed by the university), you will keep your Uni-ID and a new one will not be generated. In this case, we ask you to submit an online request to update the status of your Uni-ID on the MyUni-ID website.Doctoral students who are not enrolled or not employed by the university, are asked to contact their department or the chair of their doctoral supervisor to request a Uni-ID. If your status has changed, we ask you to submit a signed request with the signature of the supervising professor. Please use the online change request on the MyUni-ID website for this purpose.
Employees of the cooperating institutions (Heidelberg University, University of Applied Sciences Mannheim, ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research, GESIS – Leibniz-Institute for the Social Sciences, Leibniz-Institut für Deutsche Sprache, Evaluationsagentur Baden-Württemberg, Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society) must apply for a library account to request a Uni-ID and ecUM. Please follow the instructions on the website of the University Library.
The Uni-IDs must be renewed every year. You will receive an automatic notification which will be sent to your university e-mail address.
For unenrolled doctoral students who are managed by the doctoral student management (Doktorandenverwaltung), the extension of the existing Uni-ID of the doctoral student must be requested by the doctoral administrator via e-mail (id.unit). uni-mannheim.de
If a Uni-ID is blocked, for example, because the employment has ended, you will receive a notification which will be sent to your university e-mail address.
