MIFE-Early Career Workshop 2025
Call for Proposals
20–21 November 2025 | Mannheim, Germany
Following the MIFE Conference on November 19, 2025, this year’s MIFE Early Career Workshop will take place on 20.-21. November 2025. For this workshop, we invite early career researchers (e.g. doctoral students, post-docs and assistant professors in their early career phase) from all fields related to financial literacy and financial education to submit their proposals. Related fields include (but are not limited to!) economics and business education, economics, household finance, and psychology. Proposal formats and submission deadlines are detailed below.

EARLY CAREER RESEARCH PRIZE ON FINANCIAL LITERACY
Jointly with the sponsor Deutsche Bundesbank, we will award the Early Career Research Prize on Financial Literacy (up to two prices for €2,500 each) for outstanding contributions from the submitted full papers.
FORMATS FOR PROPOSALS
The regular format for the MIFE Early Career Workshop is a full paper which is not yet accepted for publication. Manuscripts should be about 20 pages long (excluding appendix) and must be written in English. Please note: Only full papers are eligible for the Early Career Research Prize on Financial Literacy and must be accompanied by a cover letter. Please be sure to follow the Submission Guidelines for the full paper and the cover letter, which can be found HERE.
In this year’s edition, we will include a new format for research in progress which aims to give space to studies that are to some extent already conducted but for which a full paper is still in preparation. In this format, it is possible to submit an extended summary that should not exceed 5 pages and should include the following information: name(s) of the author(s), title of the proposal, abstract (max. 200 words), aims of the research, theoretical background, methodology, (preliminary) findings, theoretical and practical significance. The extended summaries must be written in English.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Proposals should be submitted as a PDF file to MIFEconference. The deadline for submissions is September 1, 2025. Please indicate whether you are submitting a full paper (including the paper and the cover letter) or an extended summary. zew.de
Acceptance decisions for all submissions will be communicated by the end of September.
WORKSHOP PARTICIPATION
The workshop is planned as a face-to-face event and participation is free of charge. Participants are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation costs.
